Frequently Asked Roofing Insurance Claim Questions

FAQ

Sometimes hail can cause roof damage that cannot be seen right away and/or can be easily missed unless inspected by a professional. High winds and more than a few minutes of even small-sized hail can cause shingles to lose their protective granules, ultimately causing damage and loss of life to your roof. Call Howser Roofing and Exteriors to have your roof inspected by a roofing professional.
Easy. Insurance adjusters are not roofing professionals and may overlook many of the hard-to-see damage that hail or wind can cause to your roof. At Howser Roofing and Exteriors, we are professionally trained to identify storm damage and we can help you get an appropriate claim settlement that includes everything needed to repair your roof and reinstate it to its pre-storm condition. Having a roofer look at your roof first can save you from making unnecessary claims if the damage is minimal.
Howser Roofing and Exteriors will inspect your storm damage and the insurance claims for free. After initial contact, we will schedule a time to meet you at your home as soon as possible and will provide you with an estimate prior to departure.
This really depends on your insurance company, you can typically file a claim within 12 months after damage occurs. For an exact time frame, contact your insurance agent. With that being said, if you suspect that your roof has damage it is best to get ahead of the problem and have a professional inspect it.
There are many pieces involved in providing a bid and that will contribute to cost differences (quality of materials, experience of roofing crew, workmanship, warranty, etc.). Your insurance company will allow up to a certain amount, but will only pay the amount that the contractor of your choice invoices you. Your decision of a contractor should be based on with whom you feel more comfortable and whom you feel will provide the highest quality of work.
Just like us, insurance adjusters are human and can sometimes overlook damages in their inspections. This is typically the reason why an estimate provided to you may be more than the insurance adjuster's quote. In almost all cases, we are able to provide you with the needed documentation of additional damage we have found and work out the difference with the insurance company.
